Robert Rahn, rrahn@lhfmissions.org To: Confessional Lutherans in Missionary Boldness, CLiMB@CAT41.org 12/4/00 For Immediate Release By Rev. Robert L. Rahn, LHF Executive Director 1-800-554-0723 East to West Connected On May 10, 1869, gold spikes were driven into a rail that would link the East to West via the railroad. On October 31, 2000, the LHF established two new distribution centers that would link the West to the East for book distribution across Russia. In America the railroad would link cities from New York to San Francisco, a distance of some 3,000 miles. The LHF Russian distribution link now connects cities from St. Petersburg to Hbarovsk, a distance of some 6,000 miles covering 12 time zones. This now means that books published by the LHF will find their way to centers all across Russia in shipping containers. LHF personnel at each location will be responsible for local distribution to pastors, missionaries, churches, libraries, and other interested individuals. In one location Rev. Vesovolod Lytkin, Head of Siberian Lutheran Missions, reported on a situation where an entire group of believers from another denomination asked to meet with him because they had read LHF books and were interested in studying Lutheranism. It is just one story among many that are reaching our office. We realize that many similar stories will never be recorded. "When we began the LHF in 1992 and centered our focus on Russia, the magnitude of an effort to reach all across Russia was only a distant vision. To have the link completed in less than ten years is only by God's grace," said the Rev. Robert L. Rahn, LHF Executive Director. The LHF has also made the link available for the distribution of the GOOD NEWS MAGAZINE that has become one of the major teaching tools for missionaries and pastors in the regions covered. Dr. Wallace Schulz, Editor of the GOOD NEWS, is investigating the possibility of publishing the next issues by a local printer to save shipping costs. The demand for copies of each issue continues to grow. It is our contention that those who truly hold to the ~Book of Concord~ as the pure exposition of Holy Scripture and the true confession of the Christian faith are also the most zealous supporters of the preaching of the Gospel in every corner of the world and, as such, ought to be kept thoroughly informed of how those endeavors are faring and shown how they may be rightly carried out without the destruction of orthodox doctrine and practice that some within the pale of Lutheranism now advocate.
